ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WPVI) -- An off-duty Philadelphia police officer has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Northampton County on Saturday.
Kenroy Cummings, 25, is being charged with homicide and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.
The shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Old Gate Road in Allen Township.
Pennsylvania State Police said troopers were called to a home for a reported domestic incident. At the scene, they found a 27-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds and were told the suspected shooter had fled.
Authorities said troopers later located the Cummings' vehicle in nearby Hanover Township. When they attempted a traffic stop, Cummings allegedly sped away.
According to investigators, the suspect eventually returned to the scene, where troopers took him into custody.
Philadelphia police identified Cummings as a 24th District officer who patrols the city's Kensington section.
The department says the internal affairs bureau is conducting an administrative investigation, but directed questions about the shooting to state police.
Sources say the victim and suspect are related.
Further details on the circumstances of the shooting have not been released.
The Lehigh County Coroner's Office says out of respect for the family's privacy, the victim's identity will not be released until after the autopsy. That is scheduled for Monday.
